Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Ota and remanded in custody following allegations of assault, theft, and obstruction of police officers.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that the artist is facing a nine-count criminal charge, including assault, causing harm, theft, and resisting arrest. Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi affirmed the charges.
The court appearance follows the circulation of a viral video on Sunday showing Portable in police custody. The video reportedly relates to a complaint filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple. Prosecutors allege that the incident took place on New Year’s Day at the singer’s bar in Iyana Ilogbo.
According to the prosecution, Portable assaulted Ashabi Simple, several police officers, and other individuals during the altercation. Alleged victims listed in the case include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Portable is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, valued at ₦12 million, reportedly belonging to Ileyemi Damilola and purchased from Wally Dex Auto. While Ashabi Simple was absent from court, two of her siblings reportedly testified as witnesses to the alleged assault.
Additionally, the singer allegedly obstructed and assaulted a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was performing her official duties. The presiding judge denied bail, noting that the allegedly assaulted officer was not present in court.
Portable has been remanded in custody, with the court adjourning the matter and scheduling a fresh bail hearing for January 19, 2026.
