The Oyo State Police Command says its stop-and-search operations along major highways have yielded critical discoveries, including suspected human flesh found on a bus passenger in Ibadan.
According to a statement by the Command, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. when Federal Highway Patrol officers stopped a white bus with registration number XA 551 IRG at the Toll Gate, Ibadan expressway.
During the search, officers found what appeared to be human flesh on one of the passengers, identified as Alfa Basiru.
The suspect allegedly claimed he purchased the item in Lagos.
He has since been handed over to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, for further questioning, while the recovered material is undergoing forensic analysis to confirm its nature and origin.
In a separate incident during the same operation, officers stopped a Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 957 JX for a routine search.

However, the driver fled the scene before police could approach him.
The vehicle has been impounded, and the Command has urged anyone with valid claims to the car to present proof of ownership at its headquarters or call +234 808 176 8614.
The Command stressed that the stop-and-search strategy remains a crucial security measure aimed at preventing crime and safeguarding lives.
“These operations are not scenes from a hypothetical horror narrative, but rather necessary measures to maintain order and protect innocent lives,” the statement read.
The Oyo State Police Command also appealed for continued public cooperation and understanding, adding that collective vigilance was key to ensuring safety across the state.
