The Oyo State Police Command has taken down four suspected members of a gang that’s been hijacking trailers loaded with valuable goods on the state’s highways.
In a statement released by the Command, it was noted that operatives from the Monitoring Unit acted on a reliable tip-off and moved in on the suspects on August 31, 2025, just after they intercepted a trailer filled with Honey Well flour.
These criminals had reportedly diverted the goods with plans to hand them off to accomplices who were getting ready to sell them to unsuspecting buyers.
The police tracked the operation back to a hideout in the Apete area of Ibadan, where they arrested four individuals: Lawal Omotunde, Akinwale Tunmise, Badmus Yakubu, and Sulaimon Saheed.
From these suspects, the police recovered 250 bags of Honey Well flour, which is valued at around ₦18,750,000.
The statement also mentioned that investigations are still ongoing to catch other gang members identified as Hammed Afolabi, Oladapo Seye, and Muritala Olayinka, while efforts are being made to locate the rightful owners of the stolen goods.
The Command assured that the suspects will face charges in court once the investigations are wrapped up.
