The Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the extension of the period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows. The new enforcement date is now set for October 2, 2025.
According to a statement from the Force Headquarters, the decision follows a significant surge in applications submitted through the official portal, reflecting increased public compliance with the directive.
The police said the extension would allow for thorough scrutiny of applications to ensure permits are granted only to eligible and qualified individuals in line with national security considerations.
The Force explained that the additional time would also be used to fine-tune both digital and physical verification processes to maintain the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse.
Reaffirming that the only authorised platform for applications remains https://possap.gov.ng, the police urged Nigerians to ignore unofficial channels.
Members of the public were also encouraged to report incidents of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorised processing through the dedicated hotline: 08147818871.
The Nigeria Police Force expressed appreciation for the cooperation of citizens and assured that it remains committed to balancing public convenience with robust security measures for the safety of all.
