The Oyo State Police Command has reported the recovery of a stolen silver Toyota Corolla Sport, with the registration number LSR 893CX, in Lagos.
According to the police, the vehicle was taken at gunpoint from an Uber driver in Ibadan, which comes amid a worrying rise in armed robbery incidents targeting e-hailing drivers throughout the state.
In light of this troubling trend, the case was moved from the Iyaganku Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a more thorough investigation.
Acting on tips and surveillance, the officers managed to track down and recovered the stolen car.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State praised the officers for their prompt action, emphasising that this recovery highlights the command’s commitment to protecting both residents and visitors.
“The recovery of the stolen vehicle shows our resolve to tackle crime head-on. We are committed to safeguarding our citizens and ensuring that those behind these criminal acts face justice,” the CP remarked.
The command also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities or information related to robbery incidents to support ongoing efforts to combat crime.
