Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued three kidnap victims and killed two suspected kidnappers in a gun duel.
A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed that the victims were abducted on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, along the Ajebo axis under the Owode Egba Division.
Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle, 139 rounds of ammunition, a magazine, a cutlass, a chain and padlock, ₦1,235,000 suspected to be part of the ransom, and several mobile phones.
In a separate operation, officers of the Enugu State Police Command arrested two female suspects, Juliet Chukwu, 39, and Nancy Chukwu, 40, on July 15, 2025, at about 2:20 p.m.
The duo had allegedly conspired to kidnap their male relative and demanded a ₦50 million ransom. They were apprehended while sharing ₦10 million, reportedly collected from the victim.
A Toyota Corolla vehicle and the ransom money were recovered during the operation, and the victim was safely rescued.
Similarly, in the Okpuje-Ani community of Nsukka Local Government Area, police operatives engaged a group of kidnappers in a forest shootout. One of the suspects was neutralized while others escaped with gunshot wounds. An AK-47 rifle loaded with two live rounds was recovered from the scene.
Meanwhile, on the same day, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Aliyu Adamu, along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, following credible intelligence. During interrogation, Adamu confessed to participating in several abductions and revealed he was invited from Awka, Anambra State, to carry out criminal operations in Enugu.
