A Policeman, Corporal Okoi Liyomo, with Force No 524503, attached to Ekori Divisional Police Headquarters, Cross River State, have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for beating a man with cutlass in Cross River state.
Okoi was captured in a video that went viral on July 31, 2022, where he was flogging a man with cutlass.
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Friday had ordered the trial of the policeman.
According to the spokesperson of the Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the dismissal is with effect from today August 8, 2022.
He stated: “He ceased to be a member of the NPF, and we urge members of the public not to have any official dealings or transactions with him henceforth. We will always do the needful to sanitise the NPF and uphold the standards and values of the Nigeria Police Force”.
