The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has demoted a mobile police officer, Corporal Suleiman Musa, to the rank of Constable for violating the directive banning the use of police personnel for unauthorised VIP escort duties.
Musa, with service number F/No: 517077 and attached to 45 Police Mobile Force (PMF), was reportedly caught last week escorting a VIP without clearance from the Force Headquarters, contrary to the standing order issued by the Inspector-General of Police and reinforced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to police authorities, the officer’s conduct amounted to gross indiscipline and disregard for lawful instructions, prompting immediate disciplinary action.
The police stated, “In line with the renewed commitment to enforcing professionalism, discipline, and absolute compliance with the presidential order, the officer has been reduced from the rank of Corporal to Constable.”
The leadership of the Nigeria Police Force has repeatedly warned officers against violating the directive prohibiting VIP escorts, stressing that defaulters would face strict sanctions.
Musa’s demotion serves as one of the latest enforcement actions as the Force intensifies measures to ensure full adherence to the policy across all formations.
