The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has achieved another significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on international cybercrime networks, with the conviction of 59 additional foreign nationals linked to a high-profile cybercrime syndicate uncovered in Abuja in November 2024.
The latest convictions were secured by the National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), bringing the total number of convicted suspects in the case to 85.
The development follows a major operation carried out on November 3, 2024, when police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a building in the Jahi area of Abuja.
The coordinated raid led to the arrest of 130 suspects, including 113 foreign nationals, mostly of Chinese and Malaysian origin, and 17 Nigerians.
According to police sources, the syndicate was involved in large-scale internet fraud, advanced hacking schemes, and other cyber offences considered serious threats to Nigeria’s national security and digital infrastructure.
Following months of detailed investigations and the presentation of substantial digital forensic evidence in court, 21 suspects were first convicted on August 1, 2025, while another five were convicted in September.
With the latest round of convictions, the Nigeria Police reaffirmed its resolve to pursue justice against all individuals involved, assuring that prosecution of the remaining suspects is ongoing.
The Force described the development as another milestone in its sustained campaign against cybercriminal networks operating within and outside Nigeria.
