The Nigeria Police Force has recorded two major breakthroughs in its ongoing efforts to curb crime across the country, with operatives in Abia and Kogi States successfully disrupting criminal operations in separate incidents.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, operatives of the Abia State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two individuals for operating an unregistered and illegal orphanage within their private residence.
The suspects, identified as Blessing Emebo, 49, and Sunday Emebo, 42, were apprehended at their apartment located on Ikot Ekpene Road in Aba.
According to the statement, upon intervention, police discovered 12 children aged between six months and 14 years living in the premises under suspicious circumstances.

Recovered 5 AK-47 Rifles, 347 Rounds of Ammunition
Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were taken from various villages in the Arochukwu area.
The rescued minors have since been handed over to the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care and rehabilitation.
The suspects are currently being interrogated and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
In a separate development, the statement revealed that officers of the Kogi State Police Command intercepted a green-colored Sharon vehicle that sped through a security checkpoint.
According to the statement, a hot pursuit ensued, prompting the driver to abandon the vehicle and flee into a nearby bush.
A swift cordon and search operation led to the discovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition inside the vehicle.
The recovered items included five AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, 283 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, 62 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and two rounds of 7.62x59mm ammunition.
Preliminary intelligence links the vehicle and its contents to a recent armed robbery at a fuel station in Kabba, Kogi State. Police authorities have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspect and intensified investigations to unravel the full extent of the criminal network.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and urged citizens to continue providing useful information that could aid law enforcement operations.
