The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), today announced the results of the local government election held on Saturday, April 27, 2023, declaring that the ruling party in the state, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won all chairmanship seats in the 33 local government areas of the state.
Earlier, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon Debo Ogundoyin, OYSIEC chairman, Aare Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebola Hamzat and other security agencies in the state commended the conduct of the poll, describing it as free, fair, credible and violence-free.
Governor Makinde and Honaurable Ogundoyin commended OYSIEC for creating an enabling environment for the people to exercise their voting rights.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has described the election as a sham capable of causing the state untold disrepute if allowed to stand.
