The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), today, distributed motorcycles to Monitoring and Evaluation Officers across the state as part of efforts to strengthen effective supervision of public basic schools.
The brief presentation ceremony, held at the OYOSUBEB Headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan, saw the officers receive the motorcycles on behalf of their respective Local Government Universal Basic Education Authorities (LGUBEAs).
The initiative is aimed at improving officers’ mobility, ensuring timely school visits and enhancing the monitoring of teaching and learning activities, especially in hard-to-reach and rural communities.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of OYOSUBEB, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, said the gesture reflected the Board’s commitment to quality assurance and accountability in the basic education sector.
He described effective monitoring as a critical pillar for achieving improved learning outcomes in public schools across Oyo State.
Dr. Adeniran explained that the motorcycles would enable Monitoring and Evaluation Officers to discharge their responsibilities more efficiently, reduce delays in school inspections and strengthen data-driven decision-making within the system.
The OYOSUBEB boss also expressed appreciation to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for its continuous support and partnership with the state, noting that UBEC’s interventions have contributed significantly to improved supervision and service delivery in basic schools.
He charged the beneficiaries to use the motorcycles responsibly and strictly for official assignments, stressing the Board’s zero tolerance for negligence.
According to him, officers are expected to ensure regular school visits, accurate reporting, and prompt feedback to relevant departments.
In his remarks, the Coordinator of the Forum of Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, Agbaje Adedeji, thanked the Board for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.
He assured the management of the officers’ renewed dedication to duty and improved performance.
The symbolic distribution, he noted, is part of OYOSUBEB’s broader strategy to reposition basic education in Oyo State through strengthened supervision, infrastructure support and institutional reforms.
