Notorious policemen in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State are back on the roads harassing and extorting money from helpless commercial motorists.
The corrupt policemen were seen on the road targeting commercial motorists, motorcyclists popularly known as ‘Olokada’, commercial tricycle operators known as ‘Keke Warwa’ or ‘Keke NAPEP’ and other vulnerable members of the public.
While these armed policemen are forcefully collecting money from commercial vehicle operators, they either continually hail private car owners like thugs and beg them for money or hide under stop and search or checking vehicle particulars to subject them to extortion.
Among the spots these policemen have been sighted are General Gas, where they usually divided themselves into two batches to raid their targets, Ashi Area of Akobo, around the police station, Akobo, Akobo-Ojurin-Elewuro-Olorunda Axis.
Investigations revealed that policemen and women from Ashi-Bodija Police Station and Akobo Police Station are the ones carrying out this illegal police operation.
However, motorists, who spoke with our correspondents have appealed to the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mrs. Ngozi Onadeko to quickly rise to the occasion and safe innocent people from corrupt policemen in the force.
