The Oyo State Government on Monday, December 23, 2025, inaugurated the members of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), charging them to uphold integrity and professionalism in the conduct of local government elections across the state.
Comrade Adeniyi Afeez Babatunde was inaugurated as Chairman of the commission, with a mandate to lead the body in organising free, fair and transparent council polls.
Comrade Babatunde succeeded Mogaji Isiaka Olagunju (SAN).
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the state government urged the newly sworn-in members to serve the people of Oyo State diligently and justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring that the electoral process at the grassroots level reflects the will of the electorate.
The members of the commission include Olatunde Akintunde Theophilus, Chief Kunmi Agboola, Mr Sunday Falana, Mr Remi Ayoade, Mr Olanrewaju Emmanuel, Mr Babatunde George Ige and Mrs Adebayo Mariam Adepeju.
The government expressed confidence that the composition of the commission would strengthen democratic governance at the local government level and contribute to peaceful and credible elections in the state.
