The Youth Leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Gberigbe Zone 1, under Ijede Local Government Area, Ikorodu, Lagos, has arrested a man identified simply as Kudusi for allegedly assaulting and stabbing his wife, Busola, during a domestic dispute.
The arrest, led by the OPC youth leader under the command of Dr. Aare Gani Adams, followed reports that Kudusi attacked his wife on Monday morning, inflicting a deep cut on her head with a broken bottle.
Speaking on the incident, the OPC youth leader said the assault was one of several violent acts attributed to the suspect.
“Now they will say the leader of Gberigbe is wicked. But look at this woman, her husband beat her and stabbed her on the head. There was a time he even stabbed someone with a knife,” he stated.
Busola, the victim, narrated her ordeal, explaining that the violence started when she returned home after attending a family party.
“I was at my family’s party over the weekend and stayed with my grandmother. When I came home this morning on a motorcycle, he saw me but didn’t greet me. He later went to my grandmother’s house to ask about me. As soon as I alighted from the motorcycle, he started questioning me about my whereabouts. Before I could say anything, he began beating me. He hit my head against a block, then stabbed me with a broken bottle,” she recounted.
Busola also alleged that her husband had a history of violence. “He once beat my son, the child I had from my first marriage. He also assaulted my grandmother and slapped her,” she added.
However, the suspect, Kudusi, denied initiating the violence, giving a different account of events.
“On Friday, my wife told me her family had a party. I allowed her to go, and we even went together. But since that Friday, she refused to return home. She asked me to come for food at the party. I went, but I refused to collect the food because of her attitude. The money I planned to give her, I gave to her grandmother instead,₦1,000,” he said.
