The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the nationwide distribution of Flow with Confidence menstrual hygiene packs, a key intervention aimed at improving menstrual health and empowering schoolgirls across the country.
Speaking at the official launch held in Gombe on Thursday, October 2, 2025, Tinubu described the initiative as an essential step towards promoting knowledge, dignity, and confidence among young girls, particularly those in underserved communities.
“In today’s modern world, no girl should have to miss school because she cannot afford sanitary products. It is unacceptable that our girls continue to face significant challenges during their menstrual cycle, especially those in rural areas who miss school days every month or resort to unsafe alternatives. This trend must end, and this intervention, under the education framework of the Renewed Hope Initiative, is aimed at doing just that”, the First Lady said.
As part of the distribution plan, each state and the Federal Capital Territory will receive 10,000 packs of disposable sanitary pads through the offices of State First Ladies and Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) coordinators.

Tinubu announced the immediate handover of 10,000 packs to the First Lady of Gombe State for distribution to 10,000 girls in rural communities, with each beneficiary receiving a one-year supply.
She urged traditional rulers, religious figures, and community leaders to ensure the sanitary packs reach the intended beneficiaries, emphasising that the intervention is designed to eliminate barriers that force many girls out of school.
Supporting the initiative, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, and the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, pledged to expand access to menstrual hygiene products and reach more girls nationwide.
Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, commended the First Lady for her continued interventions across critical sectors including health, agriculture, education, and economic empowerment.
Earlier, Senator Tinubu had declared open the maiden Gombe State Health Summit, where she reiterated that health is no longer merely a social service but a driver of economic prosperity, social development, personal emancipation, and national growth.
As part of her two-day visit to Gombe, the First Lady was also conferred with the traditional title of Sarauniya Yakin Kumo (Queen Warrior of Kumo) by the Emir of Akko, HRH Alhaji Umaru Muh’d Atiku.
