The Olubadan-in-Council has nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the former Oyo State Governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Ladoja’s nomination took place during a meeting of the council held at Olubadan’s palace, Oke Aremo, on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Ladoja, a member of the Olubadan-in-Council as Otun Olubadan was not at the meeting.
Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, who presided over the meeting, said members of the Olubadan-in-Council have all agreed and nominated Oba Ladoja as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland stating, “We will forward the resolutions of our meeting to our governor, Seyi Makinde. He will now pick a date to present a staff of Office to the new Olubadan. The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible. He (Makinde) may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks or one week.”
