A prominent Ogun State-born Nollywood actress, Ajara Lasisi, popularly known as Aunty Ajara, has passed away at age 33, after a long and courageous battle with illness.
Ajara was born on July 13, 1992.
Ridwan Lasisi, the elder brother of Aunty Ajara, confirmed the death in a recorded video uploaded on Instagram, saying that Ajara died today in the hospital at midnight.
Ridwan said, “My name is Ridwan Lasisi, the elder brother of Ajara. The medical doctor taking care of Ajara confirmed to us that Ajara passed away at midnight. We, the family, appreciate everyone, particularly those in the entertainment industry, for your support.”
“We urge the public to stop sending money to the dedicated account opened for the purpose of raising funds for Ajara’s medical bill since the person for whom we are raising funds for her medical bill has passed away”, he added.
Nollywood director Tobi Oladele Teemony, popularly known as Tee Mony also confirmed the incident, saying, “With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara.”
In a statement, Teemony said the late actress received “immense love, prayers, and financial support from kind-hearted people across the world” during her illness, adding, “We are deeply grateful to everyone who stood by her with prayers, contributions, encouragement, and compassion.”
