Popular Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta, is in mourning following the death of his son.
The 54-year-old actor announced the heartbreaking news on Saturday in a post shared via his Instagram page, though he did not provide details about the circumstances surrounding the boy’s passing.
Sharing a photo of his late son, Chatta wrote: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”
The announcement has since drawn an outpouring of condolences from colleagues, friends, and fans in the entertainment industry.
The tragedy comes just days after veteran actress Peju Ogunmola also lost her only son, Ayomikun, who passed away in Ibadan earlier this week. The two incidents have thrown Nollywood into grief, with many describing the double loss as devastating for the industry.
Chatta’s latest bereavement comes years after he suffered a similar heartbreak. In a June interview, the actor recalled how he lost his first child, a baby girl, due to poverty and lack of access to medical care. He revealed that he had to bury her in an old wooden Coca-Cola crate after failing to raise enough money for a proper coffin.
The Nollywood community has continued to rally around Chatta and Ogunmola, offering prayers and words of comfort as they both endure the painful losses.
