The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday, May 29, 2025, officially transferred ownership of four forfeited properties linked to Rainbownet Nigeria Limited, belonging to former Enugu State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani, to the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
The handover, which took place in Enugu, marked a significant milestone in the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to recover assets acquired through illicit means.
The forfeited properties include:
- One bungalow, one wire house, and three duplexes located at No. 3/4 Pocket Estate, Independence Layout, Enugu.
- A 12-room one-storey semi-detached building at No. 35B Abakaliki Road, Enugu.
- A six-room duplex at No. 3A Mount Street, Park Avenue, Enugu.
- Another six-room duplex at No. 3C Mount Street, Park Avenue, Enugu.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the EFCC Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, represented by the Acting Zonal Director of the Enugu Zonal Command, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I), Aisha Abubakar, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to fighting financial crimes and recovering stolen assets.
Olukoyede noted that the Commission maintained a strong collaborative relationship with AMCON and remains determined to fulfil its constitutional duty of combating economic and financial crimes.
He emphasised that diligent investigation and prosecution remain central to EFCC’s operations.
“You will always have our cooperation. We have a thriving Department of Proceeds of Crime Management. Once we were informed of AMCON’s readiness to take possession, we acted promptly. A final inspection was carried out this morning, and based on instructions from our Chairman, we are handing over these properties today”, Abubakar said on behalf of the Chairman.
In response, AMCON’s Resolution Officer, John Abuh, expressed appreciation for EFCC’s efforts in securing and returning the assets.
“We initiated communication with the EFCC and received a positive response granting us access to the properties. The entire engagement has been seamless. We especially thank the Acting Zonal Director for her pivotal role in facilitating this process,” Abuh stated.
The event underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in reclaiming public assets and holding those involved in financial misconduct accountable.
