The Nigerian government and its United Kingdom (UK), counterpart have agreed to partner to to combat trans-border fraud.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo revealed this after receiving UK’s Minister of State for Home Affairs, Rt Hon. David Hanson, stating that the duo discussed the need to collaborate in our efforts to combat trans-border fraud.
He said, “Given our country’s unique position as a gateway to both the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea, we are putting in place concrete security measures to address organised immigration crimes.”
“Leveraging our longstanding relationship with the UK, we will lead the drive against organised crimes within the African context, and see that the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu redeem the image of Nigeria as the bad reputation of a few cannot continue to define the good reputation of our great country”, he added.
