President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shared his heartfelt sorrow over the loss of Chief (Mrs.) Leila Euphemia Apinke Fowler, a distinguished educationist, lawyer, and the founder of the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Lagos. She was 92 years old.
Mrs. Fowler, who was honored with the traditional title of Yeye Mofin of Lagos, was also the mother of Mr. Babatunde Fowler, the former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
In a condolence message released on Sunday, President Tinubu referred to her passing as a significant loss not just for her family, but for the entire education sector and the nation as a whole. He praised her as a visionary leader and a pioneer who dedicated her life to empowering young women through quality education.
“By founding the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, the late Mrs. Fowler established a legacy of academic excellence, nurturing countless young women and helping them to achieve their fullest potential,” the President remarked.
He emphasized that her legacy will continue to resonate in the lives of the thousands she influenced, expressing that Nigeria is forever grateful for her extraordinary contributions.
The President also extended his deepest condolences to the Fowler family, friends, associates, the management and students of Vivian Fowler Memorial College, and the people of Lagos State.
He prayed that Almighty God would grant her eternal rest and provide comfort to all who are mourning her loss.
