The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has strongly condemned the recent violent attacks on Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, describing the incident as a grave affront to human dignity.
In a statement released on Monday, June 16, 2025 and signed by the NGF Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Forum expressed deep sorrow over the killings and extended heartfelt condolences to the Benue State Government, led by Governor Hyacinth Alia, and the affected communities.
“The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), under the leadership of His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, extends its profound condolences to His Excellency Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Government and people of Benue State, regarding the devastating attack on Yelewata and Daudu,” the statement read.
The NGF described the attacks as “a heinous act” and a “grievous affront to human dignity,” vowing unwavering solidarity with the bereaved families and the people of Benue State during this difficult period.
The Forum also offered prayers for the victims, saying, “We pray for the peaceful repose of the departed souls, divine comfort for grieving families, speedy recovery for the injured, and resilience for the survivors.”
Promising continued support, the NGF pledged to cooperate with the Benue State Government and relevant authorities to restore peace and ensure security in the region.
Concluding the statement, the NGF urged all Nigerians to reject violence and unite for peace.
“We call on every Nigerian, irrespective of creed or affiliation, to denounce such brutality and work together towards building a nation grounded in peace, justice, and mutual respect,” the statement added.
