Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has hailed celebrity chef Hilda Baci for her ongoing attempt to set a new Guinness World Record by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Represented by the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, at the event on Friday at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, Idris described the feat as “another demonstration of Nigeria’s global excellence.”
Baci, who gained international recognition in 2023 after breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon with a 93-hour performance, is taking on the challenge with a custom-built six-metre-wide pot. Commending her effort, Idris noted that her resilience and determination embody perseverance, discipline, and the Nigerian spirit.
“The Federal Government lauds Hilda Baci’s extraordinary effort in putting Nigeria once again on the global map,” he said. “Her dedication to excellence and her strict adherence to hygiene reflect the quality and integrity that define Nigerian excellence.”
The minister further encouraged Nigerian youths to emulate Baci’s creativity and commitment, stressing that her journey underscores how talent can drive personal growth and national pride.
On behalf of President Bola Tinubu, Idris wished Baci success, noting that any eventual victory would not just be personal but “a collective national achievement.”
