A man identified as Olalekan Rauf has been apprehended by residents in Ilesa following allegations of an illicit relationship with a married woman, in an incident that has stirred emotions within the community.
Rauf, who disclosed that he hails from Iragbiji town in Osun State, admitted to repeatedly engaging in the relationship despite prior warnings. Speaking after he was caught, the suspect recounted that this was not his first encounter with the woman under such circumstances.
According to him, he had previously been apprehended and subjected to severe beating by locals during an earlier visit. At the time, he said he was warned to completely cut off contact with the woman, including refraining from calling her.
However, Rauf confessed that he failed to heed the warning and continued communication with her. He stated that both parties had agreed to meet again on the day he was apprehended.
He said, “I didn’t listen. We were still talking, and we agreed to meet today,” adding that he had come prepared, carrying protection he intended to use.
In a moment of apparent remorse, Rauf acknowledged his actions and accepted the consequences, saying, “I deserve to be punished.”
He further revealed that he is already in a relationship but does not have a partner in Ilesa, a statement that drew mixed reactions from onlookers at the scene.
