Magistrate Mrs A.O. Adeyemi siting in Ota Magistrate Court, Ogun State has sentenced a 31-year-old man, Clement Adeleke, to a month imprisonment without an option of fine for defrauding Hassan Abdulmumeen of N100, 000.
The court handed this judgement to the convict after pleading guilty to a two-count charge of obtaining money under false pretences and fraud.
During the arraignment of the convict, the Prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, explained to the court that the convict committed the offences at Isorosi Area of Ota on May 27, 2020.
He said that the convict collected N100,000 from the complainant under false pretence that he would supply 30 tons of granite, which he eventually did not supply, stressing that the convict converted the money to personal use.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 309(9) and 419 of the criminal code, laws of Ogun State, 2006.
