Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their commitment to nation-building as the country marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.
In a goodwill message on Tuesday to commemorate Nigeria’s independence from colonial rule, Makinde lauded citizens for their resilience and collective efforts towards national development.
“As we mark Nigeria’s 65th anniversary of independence from colonial rule today, we celebrate Nigerians for their contributions to nation building,” he said.
The governor acknowledged that the country still faces significant challenges but expressed optimism that sustained efforts would set Nigeria on the path to progress.
“While we are not where we want to be as a nation, we can keep working towards getting on the right track to build a country that works for all,” Makinde stated.
He urged citizens to continue upholding the values of unity, peace, and freedom as enshrined in the nation’s founding ideals.
“May we remain bound in freedom, peace and unity. Happy Independence Day!” he added.
