Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, January 15, 2026, reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian armed forces and providing welfare assistance to the families of fallen military personnel.
The governor gave the assurance after laying wreaths to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in the state.
Makinde said the annual event was an opportunity to honour and remember officers and men of the armed forces who paid the ultimate price in the service of the nation, stressing that their sacrifices must never be forgotten.
He expressed gratitude to the men and women who lost their lives while defending the country, noting that their courage and dedication remain a source of inspiration.
According to the governor, the Oyo State Government will continue to offer the necessary support to the armed forces to enable them to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
Makinde also pledged that his administration would sustain efforts aimed at providing succour and support to the families of fallen heroes, in recognition of their sacrifices for the peace, unity and stability of Nigeria.
He called on Nigerians to continually remember and honour the nation’s fallen heroes by promoting peace and supporting institutions responsible for national security.
