A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, on the Agbowa–Ikorodu Expressway in Lagos, when an unidentified soldier was shot dead with his rifle by a man suspected to be mentally unstable.
The shocking attack occurred at a checkpoint on Adeogun Bridge, shortly before Agbowa, where the assailant allegedly snatched the soldier’s rifle and opened fire, killing him on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said the attacker was immediately shot dead by security personnel who responded to the incident.
Residents who witnessed the shooting reportedly scrambled to secure a commercial tricycle to rush the fatally injured soldier to a nearby hospital, though the facility’s name was not disclosed.
Authorities were yet to comment on the incident as of the time of filing this report, while the identities of both the slain soldier and the attacker remain unknown.
