Events that will shape the political landscape of Kano State in the 2027 elections have continued emerge after its governor, Abba Yusuf, formally resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the All Progressives Congress (NNPP).
The latest from the state revealed that 22 legislators out of 40 members of the Kano State House of Assembly have decamped from NNPP to the All Progressive Congress (APC), where Governor Yusuf had earlier decamped to.
The latest defectors announced their defection today during the plenary session. The defection was carried out alongside eight members of the House of Representatives and all 44 local government chairmen in Kano State.

Among those who left NNPP are the Speaker of the House, Jibril Falgore (Rogo), the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello Butu Butu (Tofa/Rimin Gado), Majority Leader, Lawan Hussain (Dala); the Deputy Majority Leader, Garba Shehu Fammar (Kibiya); and the Chief Whip, Muddasir Ibrahim Zawachiki (Kumbotso).

However, in what seems to be the crumbling of NNPP, its national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, may also be loosing his brother to APC.
