The United Nations has condemned President Donald Trump for invading the Republic of Venezuela and kidnapping its President, Nicolás Maduro, saying that the USA’s action violates international law.
In her address during an emergency meeting of the United Nations, UN Under Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo described the USA’s action on Venezuela as a military aggression carried out in civilian and military areas, adding, “and as a flagrant violation of the charter, posing a threat to international and regional peace and security.”
DiCarlo explained, “As we speak, President Maduro is being held in New York, accused by US authorities, along with his wife, Cilia Flores, of serious criminal offences. What is less certain is the immediate future of Venezuela. I am deeply concerned about the possible intensification, the instability in the country, the potential impact on the region, and the precedent it may set for how relations between and among states. I remain deeply concerned that the rules of international law have not been respected with regard to the January 3 military action. The charter enshrines the prohibition of the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.”
The world leaders have also condemned the invasion of Venezuela by America, stressing that they reject the action.

Reacting, Trump justified his action on Venezuela claiming that America would do anything to protect its “national interest.”
His words, “A lot of people are talking right now. The media, foreign leaders, and everyone have an opinion. So, let me tell you directly what is really going on. The United States acted because we always act when our national interest is at stake. Venezuela was a mess, and total chaos, and the situation with Nicolás Maduro has gone on for far too long. The world knows it; everyone knows it. We simply did what strong countries do when leadership fails and stability disappears. Now you hear Russian complaining, Dimitri Medvedev is making threats, talking about dangerous presidents. But let us be honest, these same people stayed very quiet when their own allies crossed the line. Suddenly, when America shows strenght they panic, their warning that no leader is safe. What they are afraid of is clarity. They are afraid that decisive action works. I have heard the accusations of oil, power, and influence. Let me be clear, America protects its interests.”
