Indian police have arrested a Nigerian woman, identified as Akinwumi Princess, for allegedly being in possession of 5.3 kilograms of hard drugs. She is currently undergoing interrogation.
According to the police, Princess was apprehended while attempting to travel to a different region from where she resided.
Investigations revealed that she arrived in India in 2021 on a student visa, despite not having gained admission into any university in the country.
The suspect was arrested while reportedly trying to deliver the drug consignment. Police said they noticed a suspicious vehicle near where she was standing, but the vehicle refused to stop after noticing the presence of law enforcement officers.
During questioning, Princess claimed she was only instructed to deliver the package to an unidentified individual.
Authorities have also arrested her boyfriend, with whom she was living, as investigations continue to determine his possible involvement in the drug trafficking operation.
When asked why she was not enrolled in any school, Princess said she left because she did not feel welcomed. She added that, in a bid to make quick money, she turned to drug trafficking.
