The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) has announced the appointment of Deolu Ijose as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition within the organization.
The appointment, disclosed in a statement signed by Angela Olanrewaju, Coordinating Head of Corporate Services, follows the recent reconstitution of the company’s Board of Directors.
According to the statement, Ijose takes over from Francis Agoha, who previously led the company.
Ijose brings a wealth of experience in Nigeria’s power sector to the role. He previously served as Managing Director of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company and held the position of Chief Commercial Officer at IBEDC, giving him both industry-wide insight and in-depth familiarity with the company’s operations.
The Board expressed strong confidence in his leadership, noting that his expertise positions him to build on existing achievements while steering the company toward improved performance and operational excellence.
Speaking on his appointment, Ijose described the role as both an honour and a responsibility at a critical time for the company. He emphasised a strategic focus on operational efficiency, stronger commercial discipline, and enhanced service delivery to customers. He also highlighted teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to excellence as key drivers of future success.
The leadership change underscores IBEDC’s broader commitment to strengthening electricity distribution, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and investing in infrastructure and technology. With this transition, the company aims to accelerate growth and deliver greater value to customers, stakeholders, and Nigeria’s economy.
