Mr Ajadi Kelani Ojo Omotosho, a lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, The Ibadan Polytechnic, Ibadan, has been sacked for allegedly being involved in sex scandal with his student, Nifemi Balogun.
The letter of termination of appointment dated Friday September 11, 2020, was officially handed over to the sacked lecturer on Tuesday September 15, 2020.
The termination of appointment was contained in a press release dated Thursday September 17, 2020, which was titled, “The Polytechnic Ibadan (TPI) Terminates Appointment of Chief Lecturer” and signed by the institution’s registrar/Secretary to the Council, Mrs Fawale M. T.
According to the statement, the lecturer was shown the way out of the institution following his involvement in an act of misconduct which resulted in embarrassing and tarnishing the image of the institution.
The letter stated, “You will recall that you were engaged in an inappropriate behaviour and a poorly managed relationship with your former student. These resulted in embarrassing and tarnishing the image of your employer, The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TIP). You will also recall your responses and appearances before the Investigation Panel and Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee that looked into the above matters. After a careful consideration of the issues above, the Governing Council found you guilty as your actions and activities amount to misconduct. The Governing Council, therefore, approved the immediate termination of your appointment with effect from Friday, 11th September, 2020”.
The ugly event came to the public domain in 2019, when the lecturer reported Nifemi at a police station in Ibadan, claiming that Nifemi, his girlfriend transferred the sum of N100, 000 from his account to her account.
According to him, Nifemi, who passed a night in his residence, transferred the money through his mobile telephone before she left his house the following day.
Admitting that he had several unprotected sex with Nifemi, he claimed that Nifemi made love advancement to him because she was academically lazy and needed him to help her write her final year project, give her marks in his courses and helped her secure good marks from the other lecturers, who taught the lady.
The lecturer has been caught in a leaked audio claiming that sex with Nifemi was not enjoyable because she had slept with many men adding, “There is nothing in her breast, private part. She is 27 and already has a child. There is nothing in her head”.
In the leaked audio, Nifemi’s mother threatened to ensure that the Polytechnic authority would sack the lecturer, saying that rather than teaching his students, he was taking advantage of them by sleeping with them.
