Nigerian actress Kemisola Ariyo Apesin, popularly known as Kemity has revealed that her first sex with the man that took her virginity resulted into her first pregnancy, resulting to the birth of her first daughter about 23 years now.
Speaking candidly on Talk to B., Kemi described her path into single motherhood as “circumstantial,” revealing how her early experiences shaped her into the woman she is today.
She stated, “My virginity turned to pregnancy,” recounting how her first sexual encounter, which happened while she was preparing for her West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC), resulted in pregnancy.

Her mother, also a single parent, stood firm against her getting married at that young age, instead insisting she focus on her education.
She added, “My mother refused us getting married telling the boy who impregnated me to let me finish school.”
Kemi, an indigene of Ijesa, obtained her Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH). Although she initially trained as a caterer, she sold the tools her mother bought for the trade and used the proceeds to pursue a career in acting.
Tragedy struck when the man who fathered her first daughter traveled to Malaysia and returned to Nigeria four years after but got killed in an hotel he lodged. “That was how I became a widow,” she emotionally said with tears rolling down her cheeks.
Years later, while working as a teacher and learning graphic design, she met another man, a prophet working in an oil company, who fathered her second child, Ifeoluwa, who is currently 16.
However, the relationship deteriorated after a few years due to mistrust and accusations of infidelity. “He began to show dislike toward me and would spend hours on phone calls at night speaking with ladies.”
Kemi said that her legal husband lost his job and could not get another for 11 months.
She stayed with him through the hardship, even when he claimed a Muslim cleric told him his success was tied to divorcing her. “The day he told me this, I decided I would leave him, but I vowed not to go until he got another job. When he finally did and received two months’ salary, I left with my children,” she said.
According to her, with little money, she rented a shop which doubled as their living space. “My mother didn’t allow me to stay with her,” she revealed adding that she started selling raw rice to survive.
Her former husband’s family later came pleading for reconciliation. She agreed to return but chose not to announce her comeback.
The actress pointed out, “The day I went back to surprise him, I met a woman, someone who had visited me in the hospital after I gave birth, wearing my clothes. That was the final straw. I left completely.”
Though they were legally married through the court, he remarried and has had two children within four years. Kemi added that he didn’t see their child for 10 years.
She attempted another relationship, but it failed due to differences over having children and incompatible blood types. “He wanted a child, but I wasn’t ready for another. Besides, we were both AS,” she explained.
