The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, has taken full custody of fugitive suspect, Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun, who was arrested and handed over by the Ghana Police Service in Accra following a coordinated multi-agency operation.
Fejemirokun, who fled Nigeria after the abduction and suspected murder of a female Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer and her young daughter in Osun State, was apprehended in Ghana after authorities there acted on credible intelligence indicating he was hiding within their jurisdiction.
According to the NPF, the Ghana Police Service promptly informed INTERPOL NCB Abuja of the arrest. A team was immediately dispatched to Accra, where officers concluded formalities and secured the suspect’s transfer to Nigeria.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, expressed condolences to the family of the victims and assured the public that investigators would pursue the case diligently.
“The investigation will be thorough and brought to a logical conclusion, after which the suspect will be arraigned accordingly,” the IGP said, while commending the Ghanaian authorities for their professionalism and cooperation in the extradition process.
