An unidentified child of former Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor, identified as Blessing Sagie, has alleged that the church abandoned her father after decades of service, despite his deteriorating health condition.
In a video circulating online, the young woman, who apologised in advance to her parents for speaking publicly, said her father served in RCCG for about 30 years before being asked to step down without any financial or welfare support.
According to her, years of service took a toll on her father’s health as he developed diabetes, which impaired his vision and severely affected his legs, leaving him blind and almost facing amputation.
“My daddy and mummy have served RCCG for about 30 years. My dad, in the course of serving, came down with diabetes. It affected his sight and legs… He is currently blind. They told my dad to step down without any help. He is at home, and it is the children taking care of him,” she stated.
She further alleged that her mother, Pastor Blessing Sagie, who currently serves as an area pastor, was “demoted so badly” and had also never received any form of assistance from the church.
“My mummy is a pastor in RCCG. They never got any support from the church. They didn’t even allow my daddy to meet Pastor Enock Adeboye for help,” she added.
Expressing her disillusionment, the young woman revealed that the experience discouraged her from attending church for a period and that while she has since returned to worship, she has refused to serve in any department, insisting she will “only serve God, not the church.”
She called on church members and leadership to check on retired or ailing pastors, especially those who had invested personal resources in church programmes and expansion.
As of the time of filing this report, RCCG has not issued any public statement in response to the allegations.
