Operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service have arrested two Northerners suspected of kidnapping in Iseyin town, Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The suspects were identified as Umaru Abubakar, 25, a native of Jebba in Niger State, and Bello Umaru Usman, 32, from Yawuri
They were taken into custody after security operatives intercepted them during what the suspects later described as a kidnapping operation.
In a confession recorded by officers, Usman said it was their “first operation.”
He stated that they had been paid N2.4 million (two million four hundred thousand) and supplied with weapons to carry out the attack.
“We kidnapped a man,” one of them said, adding that they had received information from the son of an elderly man known as Alhaji Otu to abduct a target.
The suspects said that while moving the victim, they encountered Alhaji Otu himself and abducted him as well.
Recovered from the suspects are guns, bullets and huge amount of money, among other things.
The Forest Security Service confirmed.
