Ambassador Florence Ajimobi, an ambassador-designate from Oyo State and the wife of Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the immediate past governor of Oyo State, declared war over the 2027 election.
In a viral video currently trending on social media, she said that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not be allowed to win the 2027 election at any level in the state.
Ambassador Ajimobi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the statement in June 2025 during the 5th memorial prayer of her late husband.
She said: “In Oyo State, we are going to war in 2027. It’s going to be war; head-on war. PDP must go. Whatever they want to do, whatever they want to try, whatever threats, all powers belong to God. We are going to beg God and we are going to fight them.”
She vowed that APC will match PDP money for money, power for power, strength for strength even, manipulation for manipulation
“In Oyo State, we are going to war in 2027. It’s going to be war; head-on war. PDP must go. Whatever they want to do, whatever they want to try, whatever threats, all powers belong to God. We are going to beg God and we are going to fight them.
“Whatever they have in the state, we have at the federal level. They have money in the state, we have money at the federal level and we have all the support we need.
She stated, “Whatever they have in the state, we have at the federal level. They have money in the state, we have money at the federal level and we have all the support we need.”
“We are not going to be intimidated. So, let them get ready for us, we are ready for them”, she added.
However, despite a fact check confirming that Florence Ajimobi made the statement in 2025, the former Oyo State First Lady denied the video, saying it is a fabricated deepfake designed to mislead the public about her stance on the 2027 governorship election.
According to a statement she released, Florence Ajimobi said she never made the video, adding that the video is AI-generated.
.The statement read: “Former Oyo State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media, insisting it is a fabricated deepfake designed to mislead the public about her stance on the 2027 governorship election.
“The remarks in the video were never made by me. This content is entirely fabricated, and it is designed to mislead the public and create confusion ahead of the 2027 elections.”
The former First Lady warned that the video represents the weaponization of artificial intelligence in politics, a growing concern as the country approaches the 2027 election cycle.
She emphasised that such synthetic content can distort public opinion, incite tension, and undermine democratic discourse.
She urged media houses, security agencies, and the public to verify sources before sharing content, stressing that the proliferation of AI-manipulated videos poses a serious threat to political transparency and accountability.
