The Federal Government, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, rewarded outstanding teachers in Nigeria with ₦350 million in cash prizes and unveiled EduRevamp, a national platform for continuous teacher professional development.
The award was given at the National Teachers’ Summit 2026 in Abuja, with the government reaffirming its commitment to teachers as the foundation of national development.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, 12 outstanding teachers nationwide received ₦25 million each, while the Overall Best Teacher, Taiwo Solanke, received a ₦50 million grand prize and additional rewards.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, described teachers as the quiet architects of great nations and reaffirmed education as central to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The National Teachers’ Summit 2026 continues through 28 January, strengthening teacher capacity and advancing sustainable education reform in Nigeria.
