The Federal Ministry of Education has reiterated its commitment to repositioning Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key driver of Nigeria’s industrial and economic transformation through the launch of a new national TVET Initiative.
At an interactive meeting held in Abuja, Executive and Permanent Secretaries of State TVET Boards deliberated on strategies for effective implementation, collaboration frameworks, and sustainable approaches to ensure the success of the initiative.
Declaring the meeting open, Dr. (Mrs.) Adenike Olodo described the TVET Initiative as a “skills revolution” designed to equip Nigerian youths with practical, innovative, and entrepreneurial competencies essential for national development.
She noted that the programme represents a strategic step toward addressing unemployment, reducing poverty, and enhancing productivity across key sectors of the economy.
The Ministry reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with state governments, private sector partners, and development agencies to strengthen the TVET system and build a skilled, creative, and self-reliant workforce capable of driving Nigeria’s 21st-century economy.
