The Federal Government has launched the Renewed Hope Campus Transport Scheme, deploying 240 solar-powered electric tricycles to 12 federal universities as part of efforts to ease student movement and promote clean, affordable transportation across campuses.
The selected universities span all six geopolitical zones, including the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), the University of Benin, the University of Jos, and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), ensuring broad national coverage and equitable access.
According to the government, the initiative underscores its commitment to student welfare, renewable energy adoption, and sustainable mobility solutions.
Complementing the rollout are 2,000 free CNG vehicle conversions for university staff and the establishment of an 11MW solar mini-grid at UNILAG to support clean energy transition.
Meanwhile, the Federal Ministry of Education has held its 4th Strategic Management Tender Board Meeting for 2025, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel Enitan.
The meeting focused on strengthening procurement processes, improving service delivery, and enhancing inter-departmental collaboration to ensure value for money in all project engagements.
Directors reviewed ways to deepen oversight, drive innovation, and reinforce compliance across ministry operations. The session ended with actionable resolutions aimed at streamlining workflows, boosting project monitoring, and improving transparency to deliver quality educational outcomes nationwide.
In a related development, the Federal Government has hosted the Mid-Term Co-Creation Workshop for Nigeria’s first-ever National EdTech Strategy, marking a significant milestone in efforts to build a unified, scalable and sustainable digital learning ecosystem for the country.
