The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government in Abuja.
He congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion, urging them to uphold the virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion exemplified by the Prophet.
According to him, such values are vital to the unity, progress, and prosperity of the nation.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians of all faiths to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country, while supporting government initiatives aimed at national harmony and sustainable development.
“The celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid offers us yet another opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence, and imbibe the Prophet’s teachings of mutual respect and selfless service to humanity,” he said.
He further advised citizens to remain law-abiding, security conscious, and supportive of government policies designed to enhance collective well-being.
