Hon. Olufemi Emmanuel Aikomo was today, May 24, 2024, sworn in as the Chairman of Afijio local government in Oyo State.
The oath of office was administered to him along with the chairmen of the remaining 32 local government areas of the state by the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima.
Hon Aikomo was born on January 24, 1966 in Fiditi, Afijio local government. He attended Alafia Oluwa Baptist Primary School, Fiditi and Community High School, Fiditi for his primary and secondary education respectively. He proceeded to the University of Lagos, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1993. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Financial Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
Hon Aikomo is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), an Associate Chartered Tax Practitioner (ACTL), and an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA). He has over 25 years of experience in accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial management. He has worked with several reputable organizations, such as Seven Up Bottling Company, Olusola Adekanola & Co., Direct on PC, Nigeria Mobile Telecommunications Company, and Kasmal International.
He joined politics in 2011 when he wanted to aspire to contest for seat for the Afijio State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly 2019, but lost the nomination. He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo State.
Hon. Olufemi Aikomo is married to Mrs Kehinde Iyabode Aikomo and they are blessed with four children. He is a devout Christian and a member of the Baptist Church.
