The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed as false a viral video circulating on social media alleging that police officers engaged in a physical confrontation and prevented the Governor of Bauchi State from accessing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
In a statement on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Command described the claims as “false, misleading, and not representative of the true situation.”
According to the police, the brief disruption seen in the video was caused by private security personnel and bouncers who crowded the entrance and obstructed the governor’s movement.
The Command explained that officers at the scene intervened only to dislodge the obstructing private security operatives so as to create a safe and clear passage for the governor, who was attending scheduled Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee meetings.
“At no time were police officers involved in any scuffle, nor did they obstruct the Governor, as falsely portrayed in the circulating video,” the statement clarified.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, urged media practitioners and social media users to verify information before sharing, warning that the spread of sensational and unverified content could mislead the public and create unnecessary tension in the capital.
He advised members of the public to contact the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) on 07038979348 for accurate information and fact-checking.
The Command called on residents to disregard the misleading narrative accompanying the viral video, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace, ensuring safety, and supporting all lawful activities within the Territory.
