The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended five wanted banditry suspects who had been terrorising parts of the North Central, North West, and North East regions of the country.
The suspects were arrested following a sustained and intelligence-led operation carried out by the elite Scorpion Squad between September 20 and 28, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects, all on the wanted list of security agencies, were tracked to their hideout in Nasarawa State, where they were arrested without resistance.
The arrested suspects are identified as:
Abdullahi Garuba a.k.a. Alhaji Ore, 40
Yusuf Inuwa a.k.a. Alhaji Dabunda, 59
David Kaika a.k.a. Baba, 29
Baba Imaji, 36
Ibrahim Nasiru a.k.a. Pepper
Items recovered from the suspects include 2,186 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm AK-47 ammunition, two AK-47 rifles with obliterated serial numbers, one locally fabricated pistol with two live cartridges, and five operational motorcycles believed to have been used for kidnappings and other criminal activities.
SP Adeh noted that all the suspects have confessed to their involvement in multiple high-profile kidnapping operations across the three regions.
They will be charged to court upon conclusion of ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the gang currently on the run.
Commending the tactical team for their bravery, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, reiterated the Command’s commitment to ridding the FCT and its surrounding areas of violent crime.
