Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has launched a blistering attack on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, accusing him of destroying the nation’s strongest political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), sidelining key political associates, and mismanaging both party and state affairs.
Speaking on TVC, Fayose alleged that Makinde had “chopped Oyo State money” and taken over “choice lands” in the state, saying that those Makinde has offended while in office would eventually speak out about their experiences.
Fayose further alleged that Governor Makinde had alienated many of those who contributed to his emergence in office.
According to him, “Governor Makinde has driven away almost everybody that was part of his ascension. That is his problem. His tenure is coming to an end; we will all be alive.”
The former Ekiti governor also claimed that Makinde has interests in the Agodi-Garden turned Baywood Estate in Ibadan and accused him of destroying the structures of the PDP in the South-West.
Speaking about the disputes within the PDP in Osun State, he berated Governor Makinde for allegedly influencing the PDP governorship primary in Osun in favour of Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola, popularly known as Fryo, to emerge as the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
He added that it was wrong for Governor Makinde to have supported Fryo, who was fingered to have played a major role in the assassination of late Chief Bola Ige, the former Minister of Power.
Pointing out that PDP has lost its strength in the political arena due to multifaceted crises confronting it, Fayose noted that the party is embroiled in legal battles that may affect its chances in the 2027 elections.
He said, “There are so many court cases; nobody can lay claim to PDP”, insisting that the PDP currently “has no stand” and is not in a position to reconcile its internal crises.
He also alleged that Governor Makinde mobilised thugs to attack him during a congress in Osun State and restated his political alignment with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Fayose declared that while he would not join the All Progressives Congress (APC), he remained supportive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the national level and Governor Abiodun Oyebanji at state level, vowing that those are the two people he would work for their success in the 2027 Presidential and Governorship Election.
Describing Makinde as “a small boy,” Fayose maintained that the PDP had significantly weakened, saying a party that once controlled 28 states now governs only a few.
