The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved an extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement to August 12, 2025.
This decision followed widespread public concern over the reactivation of the digital application process for the permit.
According to a press statement issued by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the extension is a response to citizen feedback and reflects the Force’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and people-oriented policing.
“The voices of Nigerians have not been ignored. They have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure it is user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all” the statement emphasized.
The NPF explained that the extended timeline would allow for further enhancements to the permit application system. These include simplifying both physical and online application procedures, introducing improved verification mechanisms, and streamlining processes to reduce delays and prevent undue inconvenience.
Citizens are reminded that the only official platform for applying for or renewing the Tinted Glass Permit is http://possap.gov.ng. The police also urged the public to report any unauthorised charges or extortion during application or biometric capturing processes through its dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
Reaffirming its dedication to public safety and digital innovation, the Nigeria Police Force assured the public of its continued efforts toward improving service delivery and appreciated citizens’ cooperation and patience as these reforms are implemented.
