Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 20 suspects over alleged electoral offences during the just-concluded local government elections in the Federal Capital Territory.
The anti-graft agency disclosed that the suspects were apprehended on Saturday, February 21, 2026, across several area councils for offences including vote buying, vote selling and obstruction of electoral officials.
According to the EFCC, a total sum of N17,218,700 was recovered from the suspects. One of those arrested was reportedly found with N13.5 million inside a vehicle parked near a polling unit in Kwali.
A breakdown of the arrests showed that two suspects were apprehended in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and another four in Kwali.
The Commission stated that the suspects would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
