A Social Justice Advocate, Harrison Gwamnishu, has reported that one 11year old girl, identified as Uboyo Clementina, has been detained in Ughelli Divisional Police, Delta State for the past two days.
“Her crime was being related to a suspect wanted by the police”, he said.
Narrating the incident that led to the arrest of the innocent girl, a brother to the girl, King said, “I want the whole world to see what the so called Nigeria Police is doing. Some policemen came to our house in Ughelli, Delta State yesterday to make an arrest but couldn’t find the person they came for. Then, they took my sister, a minor of 11 years to the station since yesterday. After series of trying to bail her, they refuse to release her to us. The little girl has been in the police custody since yesterday till now for what she knows nothing about. This is simply kidnapping, human rights abuse and unlawful detention.
Reacting, Femi Fani-Kayode simply said, “Sometimes I question the mindset of some policemen. I am speechless to hear this. This is abuse of power”.
